Benefits of Triton One

Immediate access to materials: Students are prepared to begin their courses by the first day of class. Perpetual access to course materials, as available from the publisher.

Predictable costs: A flat, low rate reduces overall course materials costs compared to traditional market prices, creating predictability for students. Flat rate is billed for maximum convenience.

Supports sense of belonging and retention: Engagement with peers and faculty within Canvas and additional publisher resources reduces course attrition.

Choose the Course Materials Option That Works for You

UC San Diego gives you three ways to access your required course materials, so you can choose the option that best fits your courses and budget.

Triton One

All your required course materials for one flat rate of $199 per quarter.

Triton One provides access to required materials across your eligible courses. Materials are delivered digitally whenever possible, with physical materials provided when required by your instructor.

Triton Select

Choose your materials course by course.

If Triton One isn’t the right fit, Triton Select lets you purchase eligible digital course materials individually, often at discounted prices.

Opt Out

Purchase your course materials on your own.

You can fully opt out of UC San Diego’s course materials programs and obtain any required materials independently.

If Triton One isn’t the right fit for you, follow these steps to opt out by Friday, October 9, 2026:

  1. Visit ucsd.vitalsource.com and sign in with your UC San Diego SSO.
  2. On your dashboard, select “View Program Options.”

  3. Select “Opt Out of All Materials.”
  4. Select “Confirm Selection” to complete your opt-out.

Gaining Access

By the first day of classes, students can access the required digital content/textbooks for any course through the course materials link on UC San Diego’s Learning Management System, Canvas.

You may also access your course materials directly via ucsd.vitalsource.com.

Billing

Students will see the $199 flat rate on their billing statement per quarter. Charges will not be posted until after the opt-out deadline. For more information, view the Frequently Asked Questions page.

Key Dates

Students can choose Triton Select or opt out by the Friday of Week 2 each quarter.

If you opt out of or drop a class and have any print textbooks you received from The Bookstore, you must return them by the Friday of Week 3 each quarter. If you remain opted into Triton One and enrolled in the course using the print textbooks, those materials are yours to keep after the end of the quarter.
